Widzialni Foundation is the organizer of the national competition Website without Barriers addressed to public administration units, non-governmental units and commercial sector. The competition is organizer regularly for five years. Its purpose is to propagate the Internet free from barriers and accessible to everyone. The still increasing number of institutions taking part in it is the evidence of its significance and efficient promotion of sites creation according the standards of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (i.e. international standards that should be satisfied by websites in order to be fully accessible), thus of efficiency of these operations. Every year, the competition is joined by a hundred entities. The event is supported by a promoting campaign and conference Digitally excluded

The competition "Website without Barriers" was won by the sites of: Social Aid Center in Rybnik and Sanatorium Gracja in Ciechocienk. Among almost a hundred applying sites, Widzialni Foundation selected two web sites which are the most available for persons with disabilities, elderly persons and other endangered to exclusion.

Widzialni Foundation organizes the competition "Website without Barriers" for five years, and it is to initiate national action promoting free access to information in the Internet to persons with disabilities. This year event was organized by: Widzialni Foundation, Silesian Institute and deputy to the European Parliament Rafał Trzaskowski.  

The competition is of open character, it may be joined by public institutions, organizations and commercial companies.

Through the competition we would like to popularize the attitude of aware creation of websites in order to combat digital exclusion and discrimination in access to information in the Internet  - said Wojciech Kulesza, president of Widzialni Foundation.

The accessibility is more and more popular. We see the good intentions: increasing the fonts, contrast versions, however these solutions, without the basics, will not do the job  - says Przemysław Marcinkowski, accessibility expert at Widzialni Foundation.

Each year, it is an observed fact that more and more percentage of websites is accessible for all Internet users. The purpose of the competition is to promote good practices through distinguishing these sites, which are adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities and endangered to digital exclusion.

The final of the competition took place on 29 November in Radisson Blu Hotel in Warsaw. During the gala, prizes of the 5th edition of the competition "Website without Barriers" were handed. Laureates of the competition became:

In the category of public administration sites:

  1. The website of  Social Aid Center in Rybnik was the winner, www.trafrybnik.pl
    Mrs. Halina Szymańska, deputy director of the Social Aid Center in Rybnik received the prize.
  2. Honourable mention was handed to  Office of Rail Transportation, www.utk.gov.pl
    the prize was received by Mr. Kszysztof Dyl, President of the Office of Rail Transportation

In the category of commercial services:

  1. The website of  Gracja Sanatorium  from Ciechocinek was the winner, www.sanatoriumgracja.pl 
    the prize was received by Mrs. Kagdalena Kreps, Member of the Board of Gracja Sanatorium
  2. Honourable mention was handed to  Non-public Long-term Health Care Center – Maria Mackus, www.nzod.pl 
    the prize was received by Mr. Paweł Mackus

Representatives of the Ministries, members of parliament, representatives of non-government organizations, scientific centers and universities as well as representatives of public administration were invited to the gala. Among other things, the following prominent personalities have appeared:
